PRESS RELEASE:  ROBIN HOOD AMBUSHES THE SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM

Robin and his merry men return to Castle Drogo the 30th of July until the 5th of August

Robin Hood and his band have been seen in the woods of Devon robbing the rich and distributing the wealth all over the English countryside to the poor.  This year, the show has been enhanced with the appearance of a mysterious stranger, for whom it has been rumoured has returned from the Crusades to regain his throne, the appearance of a band of evil witches, and the wedding of Robin Hood to Maid Marion.  This won’t detract from the excitement of the Silver Arrow Contest. You, as a grateful public, will have the opportunity to witness this man in green challenge the heartless Sheriff of Nottingham and again prove that good triumphs over evil.

The daily schedule of events at Castle Drogo is as follows:

11:00         The outlawing of Robin Hood at the Visitors Centre
11:30         The Outlaw Trail - The children are given a questionnaire and follow a path discovering scenes from the legend.  A reward is given upon completion. **All new for 2007**
12:30         Have-a-go archery - be taught to shoot the longbow by the Outlaws and the Sheriffs men (no age restrictions)

Wolfshead Bowmen have been re-creating the legend of Robin Hood for 15 years all over the world in such places as Sherwood Forest, Holland, and France to name a few.  Keeping the legend alive with a group of 50 or more with 16 brightly coloured medieval tents and a full encampment with all the pageantry that goes with it, you may find yourself after your visit wanting to join Robin Hoods band and fight tyranny and injustice, but guaranteed it will be a day you never forget!
