Elena de Hertford was the wife of Henry de Faucumberg whom she married in 1292. There is not much information available about this rather rich, pompous woman except that she was the daughter of Robert de Hertford and came from a rather wealthy family. With no supporting evidence, it could be believed that Henry de Faucumberg no doubt married Elena for her dowry, lands, and name as was commonly done in the late 13th century.
Henry became the Sheriff of Nottingham on the 29th of October 1319, guaranteeing Elena a rather prestigious position in King Edward's Court free to live out the type of life she had grown accustom to.
